Dalam rangka memperingati hari kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia ke-70 tahun 2015, Civitas Akademika Universitas Muhammadiyah Gorontalo melaksanakan Apel Bendera bertempat di lapangan upacara UMG,\u00a0 bertindak sebagai Pembina Apel Rektor Universitas Muhammadiyah Gorontalo Prof.Dr.Ir.H. Nelson Pomalingo,M.Pd, dalam arahannya Rektor menyampaikan bahwa \u00a0betapa besar perjuangan dari para pahlawan bangsa ini yang patut kita hargai, cara kita menghargai dengan mengisi kemerdekaan, banyak hal yang dapat kita lakukan untuk mengisi kemerdekaan, misalnya seorang mahasiswa tugasnya adalah\u00a0 kuliah dan menghasilkan karya-karya terbaik untuk negeri ini, begitu pula dengan dosen, harus dapat mengimplementasikan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, yaitu Pendidikan Pengajaran, Penelitian dan Pengabdian pada masyarakat. Untuk Tenaga penunjang akademik terus bekerja dan menghasilkan karya terbaik untuk kampus ini. Oleh karenannya upacara seperti ini tidak seberapa di banding perjuangan para pendahulu kita yang bermadikan darah dan airmata. Rektor berpesan terus kibarkan api kemerdekaan untuk Negera dan Bangsa yang kita cintai\u00a0 mari tumbuhkan semangat juang 45, lahirkan karya-karya besar untuk negeri ini.<\/p>\n
